Just finished reading “Naked Economics, Undressing the Dismal Science” by Charles Wheelan. A very interesting and straightforward read to get you into the world of Economics. This book has no annoying graphs or charts that you would find in many texts, just straight up concepts with many relevant observations in the world today. If you hated studying economics in college or university, you will definitely find this interesting as it presents the issues rather than drawing up supply and demand curves.

For those not in business or have never gone to the college / university route, it is still a great read. Many arguments people make in this day and age can be explained quite simply after understanding the concepts of basic economics. If there was any book which made understanding this dry subject interesting, this is it. I even encourage those in high school to read it; get an edge on your teachers and classmates with these powerful concepts and tools!

Many topics are covered in this book including wealth and poverty, gender relations, environmental, discrimination, politics, to name a few. Wheelan adds his own wit and charm to the subject making a drab subject a delight to understand.

“But don’t take my word for it…”

RATING: 4.5/5

A preview at Google Books.

Anyways, it’s called Globetrotter XL (requires registration, but records your score etc). There is an alternate site which has no registration. I found this game to be a little inaccurate. Technically Réunion is not a country and neither is Newfoundland.

If you want to play against other people, there’s Geosense.

There’s even a FreePoverty version where you can donate water depending on how well you (not even sure if they will do this).

Apparently there are iPhone games too: GeoTap, iGeo and WorldTraveller.

Lots of ways to improve your knowledge. World has changed a lot since I studied the countries in school. Back then Czechoslovakia and USSR were still being thrown around in the class.

At any rate, have fun!

Michael Ruppert is a former LAPD cop who now is an investigative journalist. Described by many as a conspiracy theorist; Ruppert prefers conspiracy factualist. This film is for you to decide. Either way, it’s definitely a must watch. I believe he presents an excellent no-bullshit assessment of describing the complexities of the state of the economy and the events which have led up to this point.

This is not going to be the typical “happy ending” type of film where everything magically works out in the end and makes you warm inside. Sometimes the things that are unpalatable are the things we really need to hear.

Although he does present very strong cases, not much is said about what can be done to alleviate the coming “Collapse”. I suppose that that’s the message he wishes to convey to the people who will listen, to start really thinking for yourselves.

As always, I urge everyone to be skeptical no matter if you agree with the film or not. It’s still one man’s view (possibly two, since the director has a big role in it too).
