Watching American Web Content

For anyone outside of the US, watching any sort of web content sucks. Many countries do not air a TV show or that particular show is held back several seasons which sucks when you’re on the internet since everyone wants to ruin it for everyone who hasn’t watched it by posting spoilers on big sites (Twitter, Digg).

Either you tinker with all the supposedly functioning workarounds, or you have a proxy, or get it through torrents. Those have been the most popular methods.

Here’s one that’s easy and free (requires Firefox):

  1. Install the Firefox extension Modify Headers
  2. Restart Firefox
  3. Go to Tools > Modify Headers
  4. In the Modify Headers window, from the drop down box, select Add
  5. In the next field (Name), type: x-forwarded-for
  6. In the next blank field (Value), type: 12.13.14.15
  7. It is optional to populate the next field (Comment)
  8. You can set this to only be on when this window is open, or you can have it always on by going clicking on the Configuration button
  9. Check the Always On checkbox
  10. Click the Enable button
  11. Close the Modify Headers window
  12. Watch!

Hope this helps all those viewers outside the US.
